Nominations are now open on AO3!

You have until June 12 @ 11:59 PM EDT to nominate up to 8 fandoms you might want to request or offer for Crossovering. (What time is that for me?)

Don't worry, we'll give warnings here and on Tumblr an hour before we close nominations, and we'll make sure everyone has plenty of time to get them in.

Now, here's how it works:

If you've done nominations for Yuletide or another exchange, this will be very familiar. You'll go here under your AO3 account and select up to 8 fandoms.

If the Archive provides you with a fandom tag while you're typing, please use that. It will make the process run much more smoothly.

Once you've filled all of the slots, just click on submit at the bottom of the page and you're done! (Of course, you aren't required to use all 8 slots.)

For fandoms with multiple continuities, you have the option of using the umbrella fandom tag (Fandom X - All Media Types, or Fandom Y and related fandoms, for example), or nominating each continuity separately (Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy VIII, &c.). Please check in at the Brainstorming Post to see if you have any overlap with another participant and keep in mind that we'll be using only the top 100 or so fandoms.

Nominating fandoms is not a commitment to participate in the exchange itself! We'd love to have you, but if you just want to make sure the bases are covered for friends or to make sure there is something you're interested in if you do sign up, go right ahead! No one can write it or request it if it isn't nominated.

If you need to let the mods know information about your fandom that will help it get approved or tagged properly, please leave that info in the comments so we can refer to it when we review nominations. Any other questions or comments or discussion of nominations can take place here as well.

Nominations will begin in just one week, running from June 1 through June 12.

You can use this post to promote your small fandoms (the more people who nominate/offer/request, the more likely you are to have fic to read or write!), and to organize nominations for fandoms with multiple continuities. Or just talk about what fandoms you hope make it this year to see if you can drum up interest.

For a refresher, here's how nominations work:

You can nominate up to eight fandoms.

We will automatically approve the top 100 fandoms with the most nominations, though it is probable we will approve more than 100 fandoms. (Last year, we had 119 fandoms in the tagset, and will likely reach or surpass that number, based on participation.)

Sign-ups will require a minimum of three fandoms that can be crossed with each other in each individual request, with six fandoms maximum. (You are required to make at least three requests, with five requests maximum.)

When nominations begin, we will post more detailed instructions about how to nominate on AO3. Until then, feel free to check out the FAQ.

Welcome to the second annual Crossovering exchange! Nominations begin June 1st, so start thinking about those crossovers.

This year's exchange will run exactly like last year's, with one exception: We've eased-up a little on requirements for signups. You'll still be required to make a minimum of 3 requests and 3 offers, but you will be required to list one less fandom for each one — 3 fandoms per request and 4 fandoms per offer.

We'll go over each step of the process as we go, but feel free to review the FAQ.

We have now officially closed the collection for 2014, and the screennames of authors have been revealed! So if you've been curious to see who wrote for you, you can now go back and take a look. (And if you haven't already, please leave a comment thanking your author(s) for taking the time to write for you!)

All of that means we are officially done with this year's exchange, and we want to give the sincerest of thanks to everyone who participated. Whether you nominated fandoms or wrote an assignment, a pinch hit or a treat, or whether you just helped us get the word out: we truly appreciate it all. An exchange is only as good as those that show up to participate, and we are thrilled with how things turned out thanks to all of you. The end result exceeded all of our expectations and we seriously can't thank everyone enough. So, thank you, thank you, thank you!

We are definitely planning on doing this again in 2015, so keep your eye on the community and/or our Tumblr for announcements regarding next year's exchange.

The deadline for the first Crossovering Exchange has passed! We're thrilled with the turn-out for this fledgling exchange. Thank you all for being a part of that.

We do have a handful of post-deadline pinch-hits to send out. Those should arrive in the pinch-hits group in the morning, so please drop by if you have the chance.

That said, running an exchange is a learning experience, and we've realized that two days isn't much time for writing. We want to give these pinch-hitters more than 48 hours to write. However, we still want to open the archive on a Friday.

Therefore, we have extended the deadline for ALL pinch-hits until Wednesday, August 27 at 11:59pm EDT. The archive will now open on Friday, August 29 at 7:00pm EDT. Author reveals will be Wednesday, September 3.

We know you're probably anxious to read your fics -- we're definitely anxious to dive into this crossovers ourselves. We hope you'll understand the postponement in this year's reveals. Until then, please feel free to use the extra time to make any edits to your assignments. This will be the only extension. The archive WILL go live Friday, August 29.
