The final deadline for uploading assignments has now officially passed. That means your assigned recipient should have a complete story over 1000 words in the archive. Any assignments that are currently open will be sent to the pinch hit list. We will also be checking uploaded assignments and any found breaking the rules will also be sent to the pinch hit list.

For those waiting to snag a pinch hit, some will likely go out tonight and then the rest tomorrow, so keep your eyes open for that.

The deadline for future pinch hits will be September 3 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. We plan on opening the archive on September 4, so please make sure all edits to current fics, treats and pinch hits are completed before then.

You may still submit treats to the collection, and we encourage you to do so. Treats can be for anyone who signed up for the challenge, and there is no word count requirement.

Thank you to everyone participating! We look forward to all of the great stories we'll be reading next week!

There is just ONE HOUR LEFT for assignments to be uploaded to AO3. (what time is that for me?)

Please make sure you have your stories uploaded by the deadline or else you will be considered in default and your assignment will be sent out to the pinch hit list.

The collection will remain open until September 3, for the uploading of treats and for edits, but your main assignment must be uploaded by tonight's deadline. The most recent pinch hit (#003) and pinch hits from here on out will have a new deadline of September 3 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.

If you have technical issues or problems uploading, please e-mail us at crossoveringmods@gmail.com ASAP.

Thank you!

There are just slightly under 23 hours left until your assignments MUST be uploaded to AO3. Please make sure you have fulfilled your assignment no later than 11:59 p.m. on August 27. (what time is that for me?)

While you will have a full week to edit for grammar/flow/etc., we will be checking all stories to make sure they aren't gibberish, placeholders or incomplete. Any assignments found breaking the rules will be sent to the pinch hit list.

Good luck!

We're one week away from the posting deadline! Stories are due on August 27 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. (what time is that for me?)

You will be able to make final edits to your stories before reveals, but what you post by the deadline must be a story with a beginning/middle/end and be over 1000 words. Placeholders and incomplete stories will be defaulted and the requests sent to the pinch hit list. If you are writing treats up to 1000 words, you may post them once your main story is complete, all the way up to the day before stories go live.

Speaking of stories going live! If you will be offline or away when stories are revealed, feel free to leave your AO3 name in the comments to let your author know!

One week! \o/

ONE MONTH UNTIL DEADLINE:
It is July 27th in the U.S., so that means there is ONE MONTH left of writing before stories are due. All assignments should be complete and uploaded no later than August 27 at midnight EDT. There will be time after that for edits, but stories should have a beginning, middle and end by then. (And we will be checking for placeholders or incomplete stories.) Instructions on how to post your story are available in this post.

BETA READERS:
While we do not require stories to have a beta reader, we strongly recommend it. In case you do not have someone to beta read for you, you can ask for help here. Or if you'd like to volunteer your services as a beta reader, you can post here as well.

If you're volunteering as a beta, please comment here! Tell us:
  • Which fandoms you can work in (full list of Crossovering fandoms)

  • How to contact you: email, @Twitter, Tumblr, Skype, PM on LJ/DW, &c

  • If you're offering SPAG, worldbuilding, character, or plot help ... or all four!

  • An estimate of what your turnaround time is

  • Your dealbreakers, aka what you won't beta, e.g., violence, non-con, cheating, mushrooms, talking animals, &c

If you're looking for a beta, you can leave an anonymous comment here listing the fandoms you need help with. DO NOT REVEAL YOUR INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT.

Anonymous comments will be unscreened and can be replied to by beta volunteers with their contact info.

If you're looking for a beta and are worried about revealing your assignment, you can email the mods and we'll act as go-between on your behalf.

We hope everyone is enjoying the writing process so far, but if you need any assistance, feel free to comment here or e-mail us and we'll do what we can.

We have now officially sent out assignments for this year's exchange! That means you should have an e-mail with details of your assignment, or will be receiving one very soon. If for some reason it doesn't arrive in the next 24 hours, please check your spam folder and then contact us. You can also find your assignment at AO3 from the link in your profile that says "Assignments".

This also means all of this year's requests are now viewable at this link.

Now that everyone has their assignments, it's also a good time to remind those of you that have written a letter to your writer to link it in this post. Also, if your letter is currently a placeholder or locked, please make sure it's updated soon so your writer can get started.

And if you have yet to sign up for our pinch-hit list, instructions on how to do so are here.

So you've got your assignment and now you're wondering where to go from here? Check out instructions, details and rules behind the cut.

We have run matching, but... assignments are not ready to go out yet. We are currently taking care of a few loose ends, and plan to send assignments out on June 30 at 3 p.m. EDT. (what time is that for me?)

That means everyone has roughly 46 hours to turn placeholder letters into finished letters, or to make updates/changes to your current letter so that your author will have something to read as soon as they receive their assignments. Letters are, of course, not required, but they can be extremely helpful to your writer.

If you'd like to link your letter publicly (for potential treat writers), you can do so in this thread. If anyone has any questions or any other issues, feel free to contact us via e-mail (crossoveringmods@gmail.com) or comments.

Sign-ups for this round of Crossovering have now officially closed.

We received 43 sign-ups this year, so we expect a lot of wonderful stories to read later this summer! Thank you to every single person who has signed up or helped promote the exchange this year. You are very much appreciated!

As for what's to come, we will be going through all of the sign-ups shortly to make sure everyone has followed the rules. Matching will be running over the next couple days, and we will announce it here and on Tumblr when assignments are about to go out. If matching goes smoothly, you may receive your assignment early, but if not, you will definitely be getting your assignment no later than June 30.

Thanks again to everyone who has participated in nominations, sign-ups, etc. We're looking forward to another great year at Crossovering and it's all thanks to you!

SIGN-UP FORM | TAG SET | DEAR CROSSOVERING WRITER | FAQ

If you're new to exchanges at AO3 and confused about how sign-ups work, read this tutorial about signing up for gift exchanges.

For specific information about requests and offers for this exchange, please continue reading.  )

[personal profile] weasleytook
Sign-ups will be opening in a few hours (the completed tag set is posted here, so check that out), so it's also time to link your Dear Crossovering Writer Letters (if you choose to do so).

These letters are 100% optional, but highly encouraged (particularly due to the nature of this exchange). If you've never participated in an exchange like this before, a Dear Writer Letter is a post at your DW/LJ/Tumblr/Blog, etc. detailing your requests and giving your assigned writer ideas for possible stories they can write, as well as any potential likes, dislikes and triggers you may have. You can link them here as well as in your sign-up form. How you format or write them is entirely up to you.

For more info and great examples of what we mean check out the following links: The Yuletide FAQ or last year's Crossovering letters post.

Keep in mind that, a letter to your writer is COMPLETELY 100% OPTIONAL, which also means that writers are in no way required to follow the optional details. The only requirement is that they use the fandoms you requested and were matched on. Essentially: Optional details are optional.

Another added benefit of writing letter is you might get extra fics if someone not assigned as your writer finds your requests inspiring. We will also be making the sign-ups summary public as soon as sign-ups are closed, so any additional details you put in your sign-up will be available for public viewing and treat writers.

If you are posting a link to your letter here, we ask that you copy/paste the following when you comment:

The tagset is now visible: default view; alphabetical view.

This year, we approved 128 fandoms, including all 2-nomination fandoms except the following:
  • Chronicles of Narnia - All Media Types — Rejected because Chronicles of Narnia - C.S. Lewis received more nominations and was approved.

  • Doctor Who — Rejected because Doctor Who & Related Fandoms received more nominations and was approved.

  • Stargate - All Series — Rejected because Stargate Atlantis, Stargate SG-1, and Stargate Universe each received more nominations and were approved separately.

The top nominated fandoms were:
  1. Forever (TV) — 13 nominations

  2. Fringe and Harry Potter - J.K. Rowling — 10 nominations

  3. Leverage — 9 nominations

  4. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (TV) and Stargate Atlantis — 8 nominations

  5. Brooklyn Nine-Nine (TV) — 7 nominations

The following fandoms were rejected because they each received only 1 nomination. Some were folded into a larger tag. If you think an error was made, or if you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.

Most of this year's nominations have been processed. Tomorrow, we'll make the tagset public so you have a little time to consider your crossover ideas before sign-ups open on Tuesday.

We do have 2 decisions we would like your input on.

First, Final Fantasy X & Final Fantasy X-2 and Final Fantasy XIII Series each received only 1 nomination. If the two can be combined -- and if that's what those who nominated them want -- the combined tag will be approved for this year's tagset.

Second, the following Star Trek fandoms each received only 1 nomination: Enterprise, The Next Generation, The Original Series, and Voyager. If you want, we can add the general Star Trek tag to represent each of these. (Star Trek: Alternate Original Series was approved on its own, so you will be able to distinguish between the original continuity and the alternate one.)

Let us know what works for you -- and thank you for all your great nominations this year!

Nominations have now officially closed. We'd like to thank everyone who participated in this phase and we sincerely hope to see all of you signing up as well!

We will be reviewing nominations over the next few days, so you may see some of your fandoms rejected or approved at AO3 as we go through them. However, please keep in mind that this does not necessarily reflect what will or won't appear in the final tag set. Once the tag set is complete, we will make it viewable and post here to let everyone know that the review period is over.

We also ask that everyone please keep an eye on this community or our Tumblr, since it is highly likely we will be posting questions regarding some of the fandoms nominated.

Thanks again for nominating!
