Brainstorming for nominations

Nominations for fandoms will open May 24 and run until June 2!

You can use this post to promote your small fandoms (the more people who nominate/offer/request, the more likely you are to have fic to read or write!), and to organize nominations for fandoms with multiple continuities.

For a refresher, here's the deal on nominations:

  • You can nominate up to eight fandoms
  • We'll be using the top 100 or so fandoms for sign-ups
  • Sign-ups require a minimum of four fandoms that can be crossed with each other in each individual request (up to five allowed per sign-up).

We'll post detailed instructions for doing nominations on AO3 when the nominations period begins.

Alias, Misfits, The Magicians (Lev Grossman), Narnia, Lost and "PG Wodehouse - Works"

Below is more of a question/heads-up and a feeling-out than anything else:

I love Jeeves & Wooster, but there are already a bunch of crossovers for them in existence. However, I have never seen a Psmith crossover. My heart craves it like nothing else. PSMITH! I want to nominate "Wodehouse - Works" because I highly doubt that "Psmith" would get enough votes. However, I know there are lots of Jeeves&Wooster fans. If it gets close to the line and "Wodehouse - Works" doesn't make it in, can the mods please count all of those nominations towards "Jeeves&Wooster" so that at least that part of Wodehouse canon gets in? Since "Wodehouse - Works" is a meta-tag, anyone who nominates it is automatically also nominating Jeeves&Wooster. Hope this makes sense!

Another question to the mods: I only watch the TV show of Game of Thrones. Will there be separate fandoms for the books and the TV show? I would be afraid to be matched to someone who wants book stuff, not only because I would be unable to write them the fic of their dreams, but also because I don't want to be spoiled by their potentially spoilery prompts.

I'm so glad you are doing this (so I don't have to). :)

Re: Wodehouse - We are definitely taking this stuff case by case, and are going to do whatever we can to make it sure as many fandoms get in as possible. So if this ends up the case with Wodehouse, we will likely be doing it just as you said. We will, of course, check with the nominators to make sure we're doing it correctly though!

Re: Game of Thrones - Right now, we are planning to keep it separate as I know that the books are ahead of the TV series in the story, and that there are areas where the canons converge (as well as fans who are more interested in the books over the show, and vice versa). So I would encourage nominators to nominate A Song of Ice and Fire series if they want book canon, and Game of Thrones if they want TV canon. I don't see a reason for us to combine them, and hopefully we won't have to just to get them in because I 100% understand your concerns.

Wodehouse stuff would make for awesome crossovers. I'll nominate the larger "works" tag because I've never met a Wodehouse work I didn't like.
