Update on assignments…

We will send assignments tomorrow—Wednesday, August 2—at 1:00 PM PDT. [Countdown.]

We have a handful of pinch hits we'll also send out at that time. Pinch hits are given on first-come-first-serve.

This means that you have 24 hours to finish writing and editing your letters! If your letter is locked, please unlock it as soon as possible!

In order to maintain the two month creation period, we've made the following changes to the schedule:

Assignments sent: August 2
Assignments due: October 2
Final pinch hits due: October 12
Archive goes live: October 13
Authors revealed: October 20

We realize this creates a greater gap between the deadline and collection opening, but we wanted to open the archive on a weekend and give post-deadline pinch hitters plenty of time to work with.

Will you please actively remind/encourage people to redate, when we get to October (and/or in the text that accompanied the assignment email)? The time between assignments due and collection isn't a problem if everyone redates their work at some point (any point!) after the collection opens. However, sometimes people don't know that option exists and don't know how to do it.
