Time for Nominations!

Nominations are now open on AO3!

You have until June 2 to nominate up to 8 fandoms you might want to request or offer for Crossovering. (Don't worry, we'll give warnings here and on Tumblr an hour before we close nominations and we'll make sure everyone has plenty of time to get them in.) Now, here's how it works:

• If you've done nominations for Yuletide or another exchange, this will be very familiar. You'll go here under your AO3 identity and select up to 8 fandoms -- if the Archive provides you with a fandom tag while you're typing, please use that. It will make the process run much more smoothly.



• Once you've filled all of the slots, just click on submit at the bottom of the page and you're done! (Of course, you aren't required to use all 8 slots.)



• For fandoms with multiple continuities, you have the option of using the umbrella fandom tag (Fandom X - All Media Types, or Fandom Y and related fandoms, for example), or nominating each continuity separately (Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy VIII, &c.). Please check in at the Brainstorming Post to see if you have any overlap with another participant and keep in mind that we'll be using only the top 100 or so fandoms.



• Adding fandoms during nominations is not a commitment to participating in the exchange itself! We'd love to have you, but if you just want to make sure the bases are covered for friends or to make sure there is something you're interested in if you do sign up, go right ahead! No one can write it or request it if it isn't nominated.



• If you're still unsure about how the exchange works, make sure you take a look at our FAQ page.



• If you need to let the mods know information about your fandom that will help it get approved or tagged properly, please leave that info in the comments so we can refer to it when we review nominations. Any other questions or comments or discussion of nominations can take place here as well.

I have a question -- I would be interested in seeing a Final Fantasy 6 and Final Fantasy 7 (if they qualify) crossover. However, in order for this to happen, I think that the story would have to include Dissidia: Final Fantasy. Do I nominate all three or would I nominate 6 & 7 and then mention that Dissidia could be a starting point?

Meaning that the only logical point of connection between Final Fantasy 6 and Final Fantasy 7 is Dissidia? Or that Dissidia is crucial to the plots/characters of Final Fantasy 6 and/or Final Fantasy 7? I'm not familiar with the fandom(s), but if you can tell me more, I'll try to help.

For now, without more knowledge, I'd say just 6 & 7 would be fine.

Final Fantasy 6 and 7 are two completely unconnected universes. Dissidia is a game that crosses over most of the main characters from 1 through 12 with one character from 13 with implications that almost ever final fantasy character ever showed up at one point or another. Dissidia has no effect on the plots of any of the games except, I think, the very first game.

I don't think Dissidia is necessary to crossover 6 and 7, so I think you can just nominate those. People can be welcome to include Dissidia details, of course, but not obligated.

Nominations won't be visible until after we've approved the tag set (which will be right before sign-ups).

You can check out the brainstorming post to get an idea of what people are nominating, but unfortunately we can't make the nominations visible until later.

My nomination for Sailor Moon - All Media Types is showing up as approved. Is this a mistake or has it been approved?

It is a mistake! I have no idea what happened but some button got accidentally pushed because I can't even be non-clumsy online and it got approved.

However, I did keep track of how many nominations it has and without revealing ALL my secrets, there's about a 99.9% change that approval will stick anyway. (So I only feel like half an idiot instead of a FULL idiot. Okay, maybe a three quarters idiot.)

Well, at least this means I'm (probably) at least 1/5 of the way there in terms of having enough fandoms to request!
